Villa Matilde Falanghina Roccamonfina. The Falanghina grape can produce wines ranging from luxuriant and deep for long aging to bright and nervous for pairing with light summer foods. The Roccamonfina has very expressive fruit aromas and a full but refreshing texture. Quinta da Murta Brut Nature 2014 Bucelas. This is a dry, classic method bubble of sparkling quality (get it?!). Seriously, this is a fantastic bubbly for the price! The Arinto grape of Bucelas is a little known gem with very long pedigree. In the Quinta da Murta Brut it has a vibrant bouquet, lovely crisp fruit flavours and some rich toasty depth. Il Fauno di Arcanum 2012. 🍇New Article on Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico on 1001 Wine Regions!🍇 Now back to Tuscany. Tenuta di Arceno has chosen to specialize in Cab Franc, Merlot and Cab Sav etc and pursue Bordeaux blends under the IGT classification. They do it well and the Il Fauno is a big, fruit-forward wine with lots of spicy, smoky, coffee character and a long finish. With decanting the fruit evolves and the tannins soften but there is quite a bit of new oak here I suspect. Great wine but leave another 5 years to let the tannins hopefully resolve a bit more. Quails’ Gate Cabernet Sauvignon 2016. This is drinking really well right now. I thought I’d try it but was expecting it to be too young. Wow! I was wrong. This is a really gorgeous BC Cab right now. Bold, black fruit. Very juicy with a fantastic tannin/acid balance. Buy at least 2 so you can drink one now and then try again in a few years. I’m sure it will only get better.
