Château Pesquié Les Terrases 2016

Les Terrases is very highly regarded and this entry level wine from Pesquié is an amazing example of great winemaking from this region. Dark red, featuring restrained red fruit with some apple cider and smoky, jammy strawberry notes as well as cinnamon and clove. Grippy cherry palate with some forest and earth. Nicely constructed, not a jam bomb but elegant and masculine with lots of structure for 5-10 years of ageing. Relatively easy to find and its a great purchase at around $20.

Ortas Rasteau La Domeliere 2016

Striking classic purple red colour. Blueberry and blackberry compote on the nose with some smokey earthy notes. Coffee and spice, elegant and deep. On the palate it is rich and round with a medium long finish tending a bit thin at the end. A great bargain for the price, with 5-7 years ageing potential.

Famille Perrin L'Andéol 2016

Deep garnet colour and almost explosive fruit on the nose with hints of spice, smoke and tar. Flavours of red fruit coulis and currants with some old world earth/barnyard rustic touches. Complex and haunting. Decant or wait 5 years to drink this.

Famille Perrin Vacqueyras Les Christins 2015

Las Christins is a well respected offering from Famille Perrin. it is deep and rich with nice floral notes among all of the dark red fruit. This has lots of complexity with spice and chocolate and some earthiness.
