Rosé Wine

Château Minuty – “M” de Minuty 2017

This is top notch Provence rosé and a stand-by classic – light pink with beautiful perfume and very subtle fruit flavours. Well worth seeking out.

Origin: Côtes de Provence, France

L’Oratoire Saint Andrieu 2017

Perfect Provence rosé, with a very light pink colour and zesty acid/fruit balance. Very, very quaffable. This is a little bit more expensive, but very good.

Origin: Coteaux Varois en Provence, France

Château Rimauresq – “R” de Rimauresq/Rimauresq Classique 2017

Another standard-bearer for classic Provence rosé and great quality. Delicious, delicate, completely drinkable on a summer day and then into the evening and then into the night.

Origin: Côtes de Provence, France

Bois de la Neuve 2017

Light pink to almost being white, this is fruity and floral with good perfume. An oh-so-slightly sweeter expression of Provence rosé, but very good for the price.

Origin: Coteaux Varois en Provence, France

Quail’s Gate Estate Rosé

The best of BC rosé. Light-ish pink with very lovely crisp fruit perfume, well balanced and very refreshing. This rosé has brightness, but also complexity and is something to be bought by the case.

Origin: British Columbia, Canada

Meyer Family Vineyards Rosé

Rosé made by the saignée method from Pinot Noir. Strawberry and marshmallow and some herbal aromas, with a very fresh and light taste at the front, leading to a more full finish. Excellent.

Origin: British Columbia, Canada

Culmina Family Estate Winery Saignée 2017

A bit more expensive, but a really classy rosé with orange zest, strawberry and spring flowers on the nose and lots of interesting fruit like grapefruit and raspberry. Very Provence.

Origin: British Columbia, Canada

Tantalus Vineyards Rosé

Another excellent Provence style rosé with light cheery and strawberry aromas, and a very fresh and bright palate.

Origin: British Columbia, Canada

Lock & Worth Winery Cabarnet Franc Rosé 2017

This is very zesty and a slightly different expression of rosé in that it is rich and tangy with acidity – with a sweetness/acidity balance reminiscent or Riesling. Unfined and unfiltered. Worth trying this one.

Origin: British Columbia, Canada

Three Otters Pinot Noir Rosé 2017

Light and refreshing with lots of strawberry and floral notes. Nice perfume. Tart acidity balancing the fruit flavours.

Origin: Oregon, United States

Angeline Vineyards Pinot Noir Rosé 2017

Lovely colour and really nice citrusy, grapefruit, as well as red fruit aromas. Some candy sweetness, but taught and delicious.

Origin: California, United States

La Crema Monterey Pinot Noir Rosé

Herbs, orange and watermelon. Really nicely balanced and very refreshing.

Origin: California, United States

Tiberio – Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo 2017

For a wonderful take on non-Provence style rosé, try this great refreshing wine. It is a beautiful cherry red colour (that’s what ‘cerasuolo’ means!), made from Montepulciano d’Abruzzo grapes and sings with cherry fruit and electric acidity. At the BBQ, this is a super fun wine and very, very well made.

Origin: Abruzzo, Italy

Crudo Rosato 2017

A great rosé at a great price. This is made from the husky Negroamaro grape of Puglia, but in rosé form it is bright, zippy and alive with red berries.

Origin: Puglia, Italy

Celler de Capcanes Mas Donís Rosat 2017

Amazing value in a highly regarded rosé from Montsant in Spain. Fresh and light, but with some body. Lots of vibrant red fruit. Made by the saignée method, largely from grenache.

Origin: Montsant, Spain

Familia Castaño Monastrell Rosé 2017

An elegant, light and fruity rosé with lots of zesty citrus and strawberries. Made from Monastrell grapes. Super wine at a very nice price.

Origin: Yecla, Spain

La Tour Melas Idylle Rosé 2017

A beautiful Provence style delicate rosé that is pleasing on many levels. Made from 100 year old vines and displaying all the complexity that comes with such pedigree. This is a beauty.

Origin: Achinos, Greece

Costas Lazaridi Merlot Rosé 2017

So light as to be almost a white wine. Vibrant with very delicate red fruit and a light perfume. Wonderful at the seafood taverna.

Origin: Drama, Greece

Domaine Papagiannakos Granatos Rosé 2017

A really nice take on rosé. Made from old vines savatiano grapes from the Athen area, this is bright and delicious, but with a slight touch of astringency and earthy impact from the savatiano.

Origin: Attica, Greece
